VELUX offers a complete system of complimentary products and accessories for any skylight solution – from installation right down to the finishing touches. We have all the skylight options and information you need to make a decision.
Choose from the categories below to find the right residential skylight for you and which skylight installation type you will need.
Solar Powered “Fresh Air” Skylights
The Solar Powered “Fresh Air” Skylight (available for both deck and curb mount installations) features a solar panel that captures available daylight and uses it to recharge a highly efficient, fully concealed battery powered operator and control system. This operator is the power source that opens and closes the skylight, negating the need for electrical wiring during installation.
Electric “Fresh Air” Skylights
Designed for both deck and curb mount installations, the VELUX Electric “Fresh Air” skylight is the perfect daylighting solution for overhead applications. It allows for abundant natural light, and with the touch of a button, opens to let in fresh air. And if you forget to close it, a rain sensor will shut the skylight during inclement weather.
Manual “Fresh Air” Skylights
Designed for both deck and curb mount installations, the VELUX Manual “Fresh Air” skylight enables any home to embrace the best of what nature has to offer. Opening for maximum fresh air, this venting skylight contributes to a home’s proper moisture balance and comfort level by allowing stale, humid air to be released.
VELUX fixed skylights, designed for deck mounted installations, are perfect for visually expanding areas such as hallways, stairwells, and other closed-in, dark spaces that can be transformed with light and sky views. They provide an economical choice in creating a spacious home that is filled with natural light.
Which skylight installation is right for you?
VELUX “Fresh Air” and fixed skylights come in both deck mounted and curb mounted styles. Your skylight installer is the best person to decide which style works for your home.
Curb Mounted Skylight
The skylight is mounted on a wooden frame, known as a curb, that the installer builds around the opening on your roof. Curb mounted skylights are ideal for flat roofs up to a pitch of 60 degrees.
Deck Mounted Skylight
The skylight’s deck seal is nailed directly to your roof deck for a low profile, energy-efficient installation. Deck mounted skylights are best for roofs with a pitch between 14 and 85 degrees.
VELUX SUN TUNNEL™ Skylights
Many houses have bathrooms, hallways and other rooms where daylight only enters when you open the door. Dim and dark, these rooms are unwelcoming places until you turn on the light. VELUX SUN TUNNEL skylights bring natural light into even the darkest and most isolated spaces through a specially designed tunnel that passes from roof to ceiling. The attractive ceiling diffuser blends unnoticed into the ceiling, spreading a soft and restful light throughout the room.
Flexible tunnels are recommended when installation around obstacles within the loft space is required. They are the easiest product to install because of the maneuverability of the material.
Rigid tunnels are recommended when there is a straight, unobstructed path from the roof to the ceiling, although they can be maneuvered slightly.
